Riyadh
President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received today, Monday, Neil Hop, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Yemen, to discuss the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and prospects for strengthening and developing them.
The meeting reviewed the latest domestic developments across various fronts, including field and military developments amid continued escalation by the Houthi militias and their terrorist attacks inside Yemen and across the border with Saudi Arabia. Discussions also addressed coordinated efforts with the international community to enhance security and stability in the region.
President Al-Alimi discussed the overall domestic situation and the grave violations committed by the Houthi militias. These include killings, abuses, arrests, investigations, and forced displacement, as well as pressure to recruit and forced mobilization.
The meeting also addressed the retaliatory siege imposed by the militias on residents of Taiz, who face extremely difficult conditions due to restrictions on access to water, fuel, and essential supplies. President Al-Alimi stressed the need to support efforts to ensure the delivery of water, food, and medicine, facilitate civilian movement, and reopen vital roads for life-saving supplies.
The PLC President outlined the course of the Dawn of Yemen operation to restore state institutions. He affirmed that the operation would proceed toward achieving all its objectives, emphasizing that it goes beyond military action to include protecting civilians and restoring public services. It would also proceed toward creating conditions for recovery and reconstruction, and ensuring the regular functioning of state institutions and the services they provide to citizens.
President Al-Alimi renewed his profound thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, government, and people, for their steadfast support for these efforts and for supporting the Yemeni government and people at the political, economic, and humanitarian levels.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
