President of the Republic signs decisions for promoting and settling the conditions of more than 52,000 dismissed employees in the southern governorates

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, signed today, Monday, decisions regarding promotions, settlements and granting wages’ strategy to 52,766 civil, security and military employees who were dismissed from their jobs in the southern governorates after the 1994 summer war. The presidential decisions were signed in the presence of the Committee for Handling the Cases of Employees Deported from their Jobs in the Southern Governorates. The Committee was established by Republican Decree No. 2 of 2013, headed by Judge Sahl Mohammed Hamzah.

The decisions included approving the settlements of the Committee of Employees deported from their jobs in the southern governorates in the civil, security and military fields, retired and absent employees, regarding: non-commissioned officers, officers and soldiers affiliated to the armed, interior forces, and political security. The decisions stated returning to service, promotion, settlement and referral to retirement in accordance with the decisions of the Committee, the commitment of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and members of the Council related to reparations, dealing with the effects of the past, working in a team spirit, and restoring the state of national consensus, as was evident in the outcomes of the Comprehensive Dialogue Conference, the document on guarantees for resolving the southern issue, the consensuses of the transitional phase organized by the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, the agreement, and the results of the Riyadh consultations.

The presidential decisions mandated the government to take executive measures for the approved decisions, each in his field of competence. On the sidelines of the signing ceremony of the decisions, which was attended by the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the head and members of the Committee for Handling the Cases of Deportees in the Southern Governorates made press statements in which they expressed their appreciation for the urgent presidential support and response to the recommendations of the Committee. They also expressed their happiness at the issuance of those historical decisions within the procedures for reparation and handling past grievances, ensuring  not to reoccurred again.
