President Al-Alimi Meets with Prime Minister, Head of Economic Team, and Deputy Head

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, held a meeting today, Sunday, at the Ma’ashiq Palace in the interim capital Aden. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the Prime Minister, Mr. Hossam Al-Sharjabi, the Head of the Economic Team, and Mr. Othman Al-Haddi, the Deputy Head, to discuss the latest economic, financial, and monetary developments and the coordinated measures with all authorities to curb inflation and strengthen the national currency.

The Prime Minister provided a  new briefing on the changes in the economic, financial, and monetary situation and proposed interventions to improve the status of the national currency and mitigate the side effects of price fluctuations on living conditions and services.

The meeting addressed the necessary efforts to combat all forms of smuggling and activate laws that incentivize the role of relevant authorities at the sovereign borders. It also discussed strengthening their role in protecting national products and industries.

In this context, the meeting emphasized a package of necessary measures and actions to address the public budget deficit, deter currency speculators, streamline the import bill, control and monitor the money supply, and activate law enforcement agencies to support the Central Bank's independence and its legal policies in managing the banking sector.

During the meeting, President Al-Alimi reiterated the importance of speeding up the implementation of the economic rescue plan and mitigating the repercussions of the monetary division imposed by the terrorist Houthi militia, backed by the Iranian regime.

His Excellency also expressed appreciation for the role of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and regional and international partners in supporting the government's efforts to fulfill its critical obligations, primarily the payment of employee salaries and securing essential goods, services, and livelihoods for millions of Yemenis across the country.
