President Al- Alimi Receives UN Special Envoy for Yemen

Today, Wednesday, His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received Mr. Hans Grundberg, UN Special Envoy for Yemen, in the presence of Dr. Shaya'e Mohsen Al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council received a briefing from the UN envoy on the results of his recent efforts to de-escalate tensions and revive the political process, against which the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias’ staged a coup.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council, on his own behalf, the members of the Council and the government, reiterated their full support for the UN- led efforts to launch an comprehensive political process based on the nationally, regionally, and internationally agreed-upon references, particularly Resolution 2216.
His Excellency the President stressed the importance of keeping local, regional, and international attention focused on the Houthi militias’ acts, including their grave human rights violations. In this context, he noted the campaigns of retribution, abuse, and abduction that have targeted a number of activists, in addition to the UN and humanitarian agencies, and the humanitarian community in Yemen.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Abdullah Al-Sa’adi, Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Mr. Mohammed Al-Hadrami, Yemen's Ambassador to the United States.
