President Al-Alimi Receives US Special Envoy for Yemen

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Sheikh Othman Mujali, the Council Member, received Mr. Tim Lenderking, US Special Envoy for Yemen.
During the meeting, they discussed latest developments in the Yemeni situation, including the continued terrorist escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi militias and their serious violations of human rights. Additionally, the meeting addressed the efforts of the brothers and friends to launch a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the United Nations.
The president of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed by the U.S. envoy on the results of his recent communications aimed at de-escalating in Yemen and the region. Furthermore, His Excellency was briefed on the available options to push the Houthi militias to engage seriously with regional and international efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
The meeting touched upon coordinated efforts with the international community to release United Nations staff and civil society leaders abducted by the Houthi militias.
