President al-Alimi affirms commitment to ending all detainees’ suffering

  RIYADH

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council met today, Wednesday, with the Head of the government's negotiator team Yahya Kazman and the team's members

The Head of the government's negotiator team along with the negotiators detailed the President on the outcomes of the recent discussions guided by the UN and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) held in the Switzerland's capital Bern.

President al-Alimi praised the role of the government team in the meetings that led to an agreement on action-plan to release 181 of the detainees, abductees and enforced disappearances held in the jails of Iran-backed Houthi militias.

He stated that the Presidential Council and Government are keenly interested in getting all the detainees re- union with their families, putting an end of this protracted humanitarian suffering.

President al-Alimi stressed the role the UN and International Community in  moving forward to get the agreed on exchange deal accomplished, and resuming the efforts to release the remaining detainees in line with the rule all for all. 

In addition, He stressed the importance of carrying out joint visits to detention centers, and providing unconditional access to all detainees, abductees, and forcibly disappeared persons.

 Presidential Leadership Council chairman directed the government and the concerned authorities to implement the approved plan for transferring , receiving , and providing health care and other required services for the detainees to be released under the agreement.
