The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council met the High Representative of the European Union

  Brussels:

Today, Thursday, His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and member of the Council Faraj Al-Bahsani,  met, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, at the end of his visit to the European Union headquarters in the friendly Kingdom of Belgium.

 

During the meeting, they discussed the local developments, and urgent European interventions to alleviate the human suffering of the Yemeni people, and support their choices in restoring State institutions, peace, stability, and development.

 

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the advanced European role in understanding the Yemeni issue, which is based on correcting misleading narratives about the roots of the crisis, and its historical and intellectual extensions related to the destructive Iranian project in the region. 

 

In this context, the President indicated the difficulty of reaching sustainable peace in Yemen without exerting maximum pressure on the militia leadership and its Iranian backers, dismantling its backward vision based on the divine right to rule over people, and  its aggressive mobilization against neighboring countries, religions, rights and human dignity.

 

For his part, the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, welcomed the visit of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and his accompanying delegation to Brussels. He expressed the visit’s importance in enhancing cooperation and coordinating positions between the two sides at various levels.

 

The meeting was attended by Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak, and the Ambassador of Yemen to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, Mohammed Taha Mustafa.
