President Al-Alimi : Restoring State Institutions is the Ultimate Goal of Any Peace Efforts

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Thursday, Mr. Romain Victor Grandjean, Regional Director of The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), along with his HD’s accompanying delegation, currently visiting  the interim capital of Aden.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed by the HD’s delegation on the center's activities and commendable interventions around the world. The delegation explained those interventions which help in containing the dangers of armed conflicts and their destructive repercussions nationally, regionally, and internationally.

For his part, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council briefed the HD’s delegation on the latest developments in the Yemeni situation, including the mediation efforts led by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to revive the peace process and launch a comprehensive political process under ‏ UN auspices.

His Excellency the President underlined the complexities facing such efforts caused by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.The president pointed out that Yemeni people’s humanitarian suffering is intensified nowadays due to the Militia’s terrorist attacks on oil facilities, maritime shipping, and international shipping lanes.

President Al-Alimi stated, "A just peace under nationally, regionally, and internationally agreed-upon references, especially Resolution 2216, has been and will remain the paramount interest of Yemeni people towards restoring state institutions to ensure rights, freedoms, justice, and equal citizenship. He added “ achieving those objectives will result in a more secure, stable, and a more active Yemen in ‏the regional and international environment."

In the same context, the president added, "restoring state institutions is a top priority for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government. It is the ultimate objective of any sustainable peace efforts. Moreover, sustainable peace should entail broad partnership without discrimination or exclusion, and create a brighter future for all Yemenis."

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
