President Al- Alimi receives Ambassador of France to Yemen

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council received today, Monday, Ms. Catherine Corm Kammoun, the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Yemen.

The meeting touched upon bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, local developments, and regional developments, including the repercussions of the terrorist Houthi militia attacks on maritime shipping. The meeting also touched on opportunities for peace in Yemen based on the Saudi and UN Special Envoy's efforts.

President Al-Alimi was briefed by the French Ambassador on the outcomes of her recent contacts with Yemeni stakeholders, regional and international actors. In addition the president was briefed on Paris’ assessments of the situation, developments in the region and ways to contain the repercussions of the developments.

Ambassador Kammoun, also reviewed areas of French support to the Yemeni government, especially in the fields of coastal security, training, and rehabilitation. The french ambassador also expressed her country’s readiness to send specialized experts to help in containing the repercussions of the "Ruby Mar" ship sinking due to Houthi terrorist attacks on maritime shipping.

During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the advanced French position in understanding and approaching the Yemeni issue. He expressed his aspirations for an active European role at all levels.

His Excellency the President affirmed the Council and government’s commitment to a comprehensive just peace approach ,under Internationally nationally and  regionally, agreed-upon references, to restore state institutions and end the humanitarian suffering caused by the Iran- backed Houthi terrorist militias.

The meeting reviewed economic and financial reforms supported by brothers and friends, in addition to the needed French and international support to promote such reforms.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
