President Al-Alimi: Government support is the way to stop Houthi’s adventures nationally and regionally

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Tuesday , Mr. Steven Fagin, the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Yemen.

The meeting touched upon bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries, developments in the Yemeni situation, and developments in the region, including Houthi terrorist attacks on maritime shipping and means of controlling their destabilizing effects on international peace and security.

In the meeting, President Al-Alimi praised the well – established bilateral relations between the Republic of Yemen  and the United States of America. The  two friendly countries are celebrating today the 78 years anniversary since the establishment of these strong bilateral relations.

His Excellency the President praised US’  declared commitment to supporting Yemeni people and their political leadership to achieve their aspirations of ending the coup, restoring State institutions, and putting the country on the path of sustainable peace under nationally, regionally and internationally agreed upon references.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council reiterated the Council and the government's commitment to a comprehensive peace approach. He also reiterated the Council and the government's support for UN’s  efforts to revive the political process based on the results of the good efforts by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The President stressed that government support and  the maximum international pressure on the Iran- backed Houthi terrorist militias, are the only ways to stop the militias' adventures at  both national and regional levels,  and revive hope for returning to the desired peace path.

His Excellency noted the high expectations that the Yemeni people have for  peace efforts to alleviate their humanitarian suffering, especially employees in Houthi - controlled areas who haven’t been paid their salaries for six years.
