President Al-Alimi receives Ambassadors of New Zealand and Australia to Yemen

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Monday, the ambassadors of New Zealand, Barney Reilly, and Australia, Mark Donovan, to Yemen, to discuss national and regional developments.

The meeting touched upon bilateral Yemeni relations with the two friendly countries, and the promising prospects for expanding them and pushing them to broader horizons in various fields.

The meeting also discussed the latest developments in the Yemeni situation, the ways of regional and international efforts to revive the political process. In addition to the international pressures required to enhance the chances of peace in light of the intransigence of the Houthi militias and their continued preference for the interests of their leaders and supporters over the interests of the Yemeni people.

In this context, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council affirmed the commitment of the Council and the government to a comprehensive and just peace approach based on references agreed upon locally, regionally, and internationally, in particular Resolution 2216, and considering peace and the security of international navigation to be a major interest for the Yemeni people.

His Excellency the President reaffirmed the priority of supporting the Yemeni government to restore state institutions and strengthen its capabilities to impose security and stability on the entire national territory. As it is the surest way to secure territorial waters and international shipping lines and push the Houthi militias to deal seriously with the peace efforts led by the United Nations based on the results of good offices led by the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.
