President Al- Alimi receives Egyptian Ambassador

President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Sunday, Mr. Ahmed Farouk, the Egyptian Ambassador to Yemen, to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and latest national and regional developments of mutual interest.

In the meeting, the Egyptian Ambassador conveyed to His Excellency the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and his wishes to the Yemeni people for security, stability and peace. For his part, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council asked the Egyptian Ambassador to convey his congratulations to His Excellency President El-Sisi on winning the presidential elections, wishing him good health and happiness and to the brotherly Egyptian people all progress and prosperity under his wise leadership.

The meeting touched upon latest developments in the Yemeni situation and  the United Nations endeavours to launch a comprehensive political process based on the results of the  efforts of the  brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, and nationally, regionally, and internationally agreed-upon references.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council affirmed the Council and the Government's engagement with all initiatives that aim to achieving peace, restore State institutions, and improve living conditions of citizens, including public sector employees in Houthi- controlled areas.

President Al- Alimi praised the commendable efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve a ceasefire and revive the political process that has been suspended since the Houthi militia coup in September 2014 with the support of the Iranian regime.

His Excellency, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples. He commended the honorable Egyptian position alongside the Yemeni people and their republican system in various stages and circumstances, leading to its active role within the coalition to support legitimacy, and the efforts to restore state institutions, peace, stability, and development in Yemen.

The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.
