President Al- Alimi receives UN’s special envoy

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with  Council member Othman Mujli received, today Tuesday, the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed by the UN envoy on his  recent contacts to resume a comprehensive Yemeni political process under the auspices of the United Nations.

The meeting touched upon developments in the Yemeni situation, including UN efforts aimed at establishing on  the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Sultanate of Oman, for a comprehensive ceasefire, alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, and reviving the peace in accordance with its national, regional, and international peace references.

President Al- Alimi stressed the council  and government's openness to all initiatives and good efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people and achieving their aspirations of  restoring State institutions, security, stability, and development.

His Excellency affirmed the Council and the government’s support for the efforts of the United Nations, and its Special Envoy, in addition to providing all the facilities required to fulfill UN’s Special Envoy duties and responsibilities covered by international legitimacy resolutions, especially Resolution 2216.

He also called on the international community to exert maximum pressure on the Houthi militias and pushing them to deal seriously with the ongoing efforts, through which the legitimate government seeks to expand humanitarian benefits for citizens and in the forefront payment of salaries in Houthi- controlled areas.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
