President Al- Alimi receives UN’s Special Envoy

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received, today Wednesday , the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed by the UN envoy on his  recent coordinated communications with the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, and the international community to resume a comprehensive Yemeni political process under the auspices of the United Nations.

The meeting touched upon the developments in the Yemeni situation, including developments in the Saudi mediation efforts for a comprehensive ceasefire, alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, and reviving the peace in accordance with its national, regional, and international peace references.

President Al- Alimi affirmed the Council  and the government's support for the efforts of the United Nations , the mandate and tasks of its Special Envoy related to the implementation of the Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution 2216.

His Excellency also stressed the need of exerting maximum pressure on the Houthi militias and pushing them to deal seriously with the ongoing efforts to renew the truce , expand its humanitarian programs, and achieve Yemeni people’s aspirations of restoring state institutions, security, stability, and development.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
