President Al- Alimi concludes visit to the UAE

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council , concluded today, Monday, a visit to the United Arab Emirates, during which he participated, along with Council member Aidarus Al-Zubaidi, in the 28th Climate Conference, ( COP 28) that  kicked off last Thursday, in Dubai.

President Al- Alimi met with his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, President of the United Arab Emirates , to discuss latest developments in Yemen and issues of common concern.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council also reviewed in his speech to the Climate Conference the devastating effects of climate change in Yemen, especially on livelihoods, environmental resources, key services, infrastructure, and the required international support to mitigate its consequences.

On the sidelines of the UN conference’s activities , President Al- Alimi participated in international sessions to assess the level of implementation of local and international climate commitments. He also attended part of the discussions at the leaders’ summit of Group 77 and China, where he stressed the importance of supporting efforts to restore State institutions, peace, and stability as a crucial guarantor for a close partnership with the international community at all levels.

His Excellency the President, along with the accompanying delegation, held bilateral meetings and high-level discussions with heads of States, governments, diplomats, in addition to regional and international actors. The meetings touched upon the needed international funding to address the impacts of climate change in Yemen under global commitments to support developing countries with approximately $100 billion annually, in accordance with Paris Agreement and the Glasgow Summit.

During the visit, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council participated in the celebrations of the UAE’s National Day, which was the 52nd anniversary of the brotherly country national day .

His Excellency was seen off at Al Maktoum Airport, by His Highness, Abdullah Sultan Awad Al Nuaimi UAE's Minister of Justice,  His Highness, Mohamed Hamad Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Yemen and Fahd Saeed Al Menhali, Yemen's Ambassador to UAE.
