President Al- Alimi participates in G77+China summit meetings

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi ,President of the Presidential Leadership Council, participated today, Saturday, along with Council member Aidarus Al-Zubaidi, in a part of the Group of 77 (G77) and China summit ‘s meetings hosted by Dubai on the sidelines of the 28th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Chang(COP 28 ).

The G77+China summit coincides with the new session of the Climate Summit (COP 28) which is held under the slogan "Unity for Implementation” aiming to push international pledges for decisive procedures to limit global worming to 1.5 degree and to responsibly address the needs of the developing and under developed countries which are bearing the brunt of climate change risks.

The Group of 77 and China is the largest intergovernmental organization of developing countries in the United Nations. It was established in June 15, 1964, by 77 countries and managed to  maintain its name despite expanding to include currently 134 countries.

The group, which includes developing and emerging countries represents 80 percent of the world's population, aims to defend the economic collective interests of those countries and strengthen their negotiating capacity on main international economic issues within the United Nations.
