National Defense Council Approves Package of Measures to Support Liberation Efforts and Resume Oil Exports

President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, chaired an emergency meeting of the National Defense Council. The meeting was attended by all PLC members: Sultan Al-Arada, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, Othman Mujli, Mahmoud Al-Subaihi and Salem Al-Khanbashi.

The meeting was also attended by Speaker of Parliament Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, Prime Minister Dr. Shaea Al-Zandani, Chairman of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr, Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, as well as ministers and other relevant officials who are members of the National Defense Council.

The meeting reviewed the readiness of the armed forces and all military formations to deter any escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias. It also discussed mobilizing all available capabilities for the battle to restore state institutions and end the coup.

The Council listened to military and security briefings on coordinated measures at all levels to address the Houthi threat, confront attempts to impose any fait accompli outside the state’s exclusive sovereign authorities, and implement government measures to resume oil exports.

The meeting also reviewed plans to direct oil revenues toward meeting the state’s essential obligations, foremost among them the payment of public-sector salaries, improving basic services and strengthening economic stability. The measures aim to ensure that Yemen’s national resources serve all Yemenis and to end their exploitation as a tool of blackmail and a means of undermining state institutions.

The Council stressed that restoring state institutions and safeguarding Yemen’s sovereignty and republican system remain urgent national priorities that cannot be delayed. It called on all Yemenis to rally behind the armed forces, all military formations and the security services and support them in carrying out their constitutional duties as the guarantors of restoring security and stability and ending the coup.

The meeting also reaffirmed that the state will continue to fulfill its responsibilities to protect citizens and national resources while exercising the utmost restraint, adhering to international law, and seeking to spare civilians any additional consequences.

The National Defense Council approved an additional package of military, security, economic and administrative measures to strengthen the readiness of state institutions to respond to various scenarios and challenges. It said the measures would ensure a firm response to any threats or attempts to undermine the country’s security and sovereignty, in accordance with approved plans and the assessments of the competent authorities.

The Council expressed its deep appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s fraternal support for Yemen’s state institutions and its backing for efforts to achieve peace and stability. It also welcomed the international community’s positive stances and its broad condemnation of Iran’s violations of the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen.
