His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, on Thursday addressed the Yemeni people living in areas forcibly controlled by the Houthi terrorist militias. He affirmed the state’s unwavering commitment to protecting their interests, alleviating their suffering, restoring state institutions, and achieving a just peace in the country.

In posts published on his account on the social media platform X, the President said that “our people in the areas forcibly controlled by the terrorist militias embody the spirit of the Republic”. He stressed that the state would never abandon their aspirations, regardless of the sacrifices required. He noted that, over the past years, the government had put forward every possible initiative to ease the suffering of citizens and open pathways to peace. However, the rogue militias had repeatedly chosen to evade these opportunities through escalation and manufactured crises, while deliberately exploiting the suffering of Yemenis to advance their own agenda.

The PLC President emphasized that the state had never been responsible for the suspension of operations at Sana’a International Airport. On the contrary, he said, it had repeatedly proposed initiatives to resume flights through the national carrier in a manner that would ensure equal access to travel for all Yemenis without discrimination. Instead, he added, the militias had seized Yemenia Airways aircraft, confiscated the company’s funds, and destroyed its assets, with complete disregard for the grave harm inflicted on citizens.

President Al-Alimi also appealed to Yemen’s tribes, as well as to fathers and mothers across the country’s governorates, urging them not to allow the militias to recruit their sons into futile wars that serve neither their future nor that of their homeland. He affirmed that the Republic was established to safeguard the dignity of all Yemenis, and that genuine change begins with support for the state, justice, the rule of law, and equal citizenship.

The PLC President reiterated that the state, through all its institutions and armed forces, would continue to fulfill its constitutional duty to protect national sovereignty and safeguard the interests of citizens. He noted that experience had demonstrated that the militias’ policy of blackmail and escalation had brought the country nothing but further suffering and destruction.

President Al-Alimi further affirmed that the state’s hand would remain extended to every sincere effort leading to a just and sustainable peace. The peace that ends the coup, restores state institutions, preserves the dignity of all Yemenis, and delivers the security and stability the Yemeni people deserve.
