PLC President Praises Egypt’s Active Role in Promoting Regional Security and Stability

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ihab Abu Sarea, today Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Egyptian ambassador conveyed to the President of the Presidential Leadership Council the greetings of his brother, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, along with his wishes for security, stability and peace for the Yemeni people. President Al-Alimi asked the ambassador to convey his greetings to President El-Sisi, wishing him good health and happiness. He further expressed his hopes for continued progress and prosperity for the brotherly Egyptian people under President El-Sisi’s wise leadership.

President Al-Alimi also extended his sincere congratulations to the leadership, government and people of the Arab Republic of Egypt on the Egyptian national team’s impressive performances at the FIFA World Cup. He wished the team continued success and further achievements worthy of the distinguished history of Egyptian football.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council reaffirmed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting regional security and stability and defending common Arab interests.

His Excellency praised the historic and distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries, founded on bonds of fraternity and a shared destiny. He expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s steadfast support for the Yemeni people and their constitutional legitimacy, describing it as a position that will always be held in the highest regard by the Yemeni people.

President Al-Alimi also highlighted the close convergence of Yemeni and Egyptian positions on various Arab, regional and international issues, as well as the ongoing coordination between the two countries at all levels amid the complex challenges facing the region.

He commended Egypt’s sincere and constructive efforts to contain regional tensions and promote de-escalation in a manner that serves regional security and spares the region further humanitarian and economic risks.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council also reviewed the latest developments in Yemen, particularly the government’s efforts to implement its economic reform program despite the exceptional circumstances created by the war waged by the Houthi terrorist militias.

In this context, President Al-Alimi expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for these reforms as part of the path toward sustainable economic recovery.

He also expressed his aspiration to build on the outcomes of the Strategic Dialogue held in Cairo at the end of last May. He stressed the importance of activating the Joint Ministerial Committee to advance bilateral cooperation across various sectors, particularly training and capacity building, higher education, investment and reconstruction.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
