PLC Reviews Latest Developments, Stresses Accelerating Reforms and Safeguarding National Gains

The Presidential Leadership Council held a meeting today, Monday, headed by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Council. The meeting was attended by all members: Tareq Saleh, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, Othman Mujalli, and Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, while Sultan Al-Aradah, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, and Salem Al-Khanbashi participated via videoconference.

The meeting focused on reviewing domestic developments, including progress in implementing economic, financial, and administrative reforms. It also discussed efforts to restore recovery, improve public services, and strengthen security and stability in the interim capital, Aden, and the liberated governorates.

The Council received briefings on the latest security situation in the liberated governorates, as well as the measures required to address existing challenges efficiently and responsibly.

In this context, the Council commended the efforts of the security and military agencies in pursuing and apprehending those involved in the recent assassination crimes and in maintaining security and stability. It reaffirmed the state’s commitment to continuing the fight against terrorism and mobilizing all available resources to identify, apprehend, and bring to justice the perpetrators and those behind these crimes.

The Presidential Leadership Council also reviewed updated indicators on financial and economic performance, the implementation of the government’s program, the state budget, plans to improve essential services, the challenges facing these efforts, and the proposed measures to complete comprehensive reforms.

The Council praised the government’s recent reform achievements, particularly the completion of the formation of the Supreme Committee for Tenders and Auctions and the establishment of the General Authority for the Care of War-Wounded. It noted that these measures would strengthen the principles of integrity, transparency, and good governance, enhance the efficiency of state institutions, and restore the confidence of citizens and the donor community.

The Council directed the government to intensify its efforts by building on this progress, accelerating implementation, enforcing approved plans to combat smuggling, improving the management, development, and oversight of sovereign and local revenues. The Council also directed the government to enhance spending efficiency, and direct  resources toward key national priorities and the state’s essential obligations.

In this regard, the Council renewed its appreciation for the steadfast support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince, Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to the Yemeni people and their political leadership throughout various stages. It particularly welcomed the recent Royal Directive approving a new tranche of financial support for the state’s general budget, describing it as a significant contribution to strengthening financial stability and enabling the government to meet its core obligations.

The Council also commended Saudi Arabia’s decision to extend the MASAMdemining project, recognizing its continued humanitarian role in protecting civilians and mitigating the consequences of war. It further praised the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen for continuing to implement strategic projects in the electricity, energy, infrastructure, and essential services sectors across various governorates.

The meeting also reviewed the latest political, security, and regional developments, their implications for the national situation, and the positions required during the next phase.

Additionally, the Council received follow-up reports on the implementation of its previous decisions and recommendations, the level of progress achieved, the obstacles encountered, and the proposed corrective measures.
