President Al-Alimi discusses with Russian FM mutual relations and latest developments in the Yemeni situation

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Thursday, with with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings.

The meeting touched upon the longstanding bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, which are celebrating this year the 95th anniversary of their establishment  and promising opportunities for improving them in different fields.

The meeting, also  touched upon latest developments in Yemen and efforts of mediation by brothers in Saudi Arabia and Oman to renew the UN Truce and releasing comprehensive political process under UN sponsorship.

President al-Alimi praised mutual relations between the Republic of Yemen and Russian Federal Republic, especially the clear Russian position in the Security Council and all international forums supporting the constitutional legitimacy and its national institutions.

For his part, the Russian Foreign Minister confirmed Moscow's firm position towards Yemen and its people and Russia’s support to all efforts and initiatives aiming at stopping the war and restoring peace process and development in the country. 

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Abdullah Al-Saadi, Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Mohammed Al-Hadhrami, Yemen's Ambassador to the United States.
