PLC President Orders Formation of High-Level Investigation Committee into Killing of Al Arabiya and Al Hadath Correspondent

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, has directed the formation of a joint high-level committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the State Security Service, and Military Intelligence. The committee will coordinate with the panel established by the local authority in Hadhramout Governorate to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing of Al Arabiya and Al Hadath correspondent Mohammed Aidha.

The journalist was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated, targeting his vehicle in the city of Mukalla.

President Al-Alimi was briefed by Presidential Leadership Council member and Governor of Hadhramout, Salem Al-Khanbashi, along with the relevant security authorities, on the preliminary reports regarding the cowardly terrorist attack. His Excellency was also briefed on the measures being undertaken to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The President commended the swift response of the government, the local authority in Hadhramout, and the security and military agencies following the incident. He also praised the urgent measures taken from the first hours, including the formation of investigation committees and the launch of inquiries and evidence-gathering efforts.

President Al-Alimi stressed that the state would spare no effort in pursuing those responsible for the terrorist crime and anyone involved in planning or supporting it. He affirmed that the competent authorities would continue their work until investigations are completed and all circumstances surrounding the incident are uncovered. He also directed that full care and support be provided to the family of the late journalist.

The President highlighted the professional and national qualities demonstrated by Mohammed Aidha throughout his journalistic career, noting his dedication to his media mission and his commitment to conveying the truth with professionalism and courage across various Yemeni governorates.

He also praised the professional and media role played by the Al Arabiya and Al Hadath network over the past years in reporting the suffering of the Yemeni people and supporting their aspirations to restore national institutions and achieve security, stability, and peace.

On behalf of himself, the members of the Presidential Leadership Council, and the government, President Al-Alimi extended his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family of the late journalist Mohammed Aidha. He also extended his condolences to the management and staff of Al Arabiya and Al Hadath, and the wider Yemeni journalistic and media community, praying that God grant the deceased His mercy and bestow patience and solace upon his family, relatives, and colleagues.
