His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, expressed his profound appreciation, on behalf of himself, his fellow Council members, the government, and the Yemeni people, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by his brother, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The appreciation is extended on the extension of the MASAM Project for Mine Clearance in Yemen for an additional year.

In a post on his X account, President Al-Alimi praised the pioneering program, which has helped save thousands of lives from mines planted by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias. He stressed that landmines will remain one of the most horrific violations committed by these rogue militias in history.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council described the renewal of the MASAM Project as a long-term investment in the lives of the Yemeni people. He considered it a reflection of Saudi Arabia’s noble fraternal and humanitarian stance toward Yemen and its people under all circumstances.

Earlier today, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) announced the extension of the MASAM Project’s contract for clearing mines from Yemeni territory for one additional year, at a cost of US$52,531,168.65.

Since its launch in mid-2018, the project has succeeded in removing 567,182 anti-personnel mines, anti-tank mines, unexploded ordnance, and various explosive remnants of war.
