PLC President Briefed on Aden Shooting, Directs Investigation and Victim Care

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, today Friday, held a telephone call with Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Abdulrahman Sheikh. During the call he was briefed on preliminary information regarding the shooting incident that occurred near the governor’s residence and resulted in a number of fatalities and injuries.

The President received an update from the governor of the interim capital on the measures taken by security authorities from the first moments of the incident, including their rapid response to contain the situation, pursue the perpetrator, and deal with him immediately.

President Al-Alimi commended the efforts of the local authority leadership in responding swiftly to developments in the governorate, as well as the high level of readiness demonstrated by all security units and agencies. He praised their courage, discipline, and sacrifices in safeguarding citizens’ security and public order. He affirmed that such professionalism reflects the growing efficiency of local government and security institutions and their ability to uphold security, stability, and the rule of law.

The President directed the completion of investigations into the incident and the disclosure of all its circumstances. He also ordered the necessary legal measures against anyone found negligent or responsible, in a manner that strengthens institutional discipline and upholds the authority of the state.

He also instructed the relevant authorities to provide full medical care for the injured, including transferring cases requiring treatment abroad. He gave orders to honor members of the armed forces and security services who were killed while performing their national duty, in recognition of their sacrifices and dedication in serving the nation.

The President was also briefed on developments concerning the explosion that occurred at an ammunition storage facility in the interim capital, Aden, which resulted in fatalities and injuries. He directed the completion of technical and legal investigations and the implementation of measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring.

He further ordered the continuation of medical care for the injured and support for the families of the victims. He also directed that the heroic efforts of members of the armed forces, security services, civil defense teams, and all field personnel who helped contain the fire and mitigate its consequences be recognized, in appreciation of their courage and sacrifice in the line of duty.

President Al-Alimi affirmed that state institutions will continue to carry out their responsibilities with a high sense of duty to protect citizens, preserve security and stability, and strengthen public safety measures. He stressed that the professional and swift handling of various incidents reflects the steadily improving readiness of state institutions and their capacity to respond effectively to emergencies under different circumstances.

On behalf of himself, the Presidential Leadership Council, and the government, the President extended his sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of those killed in the two incidents. He prayed that Almighty Allah grant the victims His vast mercy and forgiveness, bestow a speedy recovery upon the injured, and protect the nation and its people from all harm.
