President Al-Alimi Congratulates National Team on Qualifying for 2027 AFC and Directs Support for Continued Success

President of the Presidential Leadership Council, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, on Thursday evening held telephone conversations with Minister of Youth and Sports Nayef Al-Bakri and President of the Yemen Football Association Ahmed Saleh Al-Eissi. During the call, his Excellency congratulated them on the national football team’s qualification for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Finals for the second time in its history after defeating Lebanon 2–0.

President Al-Alimi praised the team’s sporting spirit, commendable performance, and the efforts exerted by officials responsible for preparing and supporting the national squad at the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Yemen Football Association.

On behalf of himself, the members of the Presidential Leadership Council, and the government, the President also expressed his deep appreciation to Yemeni supporters at home and abroad for their strong backing of the national team. He appreciated their encouragement in achieving this football milestone, which sparked widespread public celebrations and brought joy to Yemenis everywhere.

The President further directed that the team’s delegation be rewarded and provided with all necessary support and care to continue its impressive performances. He also stressed the importance of strengthening the team’s prospects in the continental tournament, which will be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia early next year.
