President Al-Alimi and Council Members Lead Mourners at Funeral of Former Yemeni President

President of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, accompanied by Council members: Sultan Al-Aradah, Tareq Saleh, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, and Othman Mujalli, led mourners on Friday at the funeral of the late former President of the Republic, Field Marshal Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.

The funeral was attended by former Vice President Lt. Gen. Ali Mohsen Saleh Al-Ahmar, Speaker of Parliament Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, Chairman of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr, Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission Mohammed Al-Ghaithi. It was also attended by a number of members of Parliament, the Cabinet, and the Shura Council, alongside senior civilian and military officials.

The late president was laid to rest at Al-Oud Cemetery following funeral prayers at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh. The funeral was attended by a large official and public gathering, including Yemeni nationals residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

On this solemn occasion, President Al-Alimi, on behalf of himself, fellow members of the Presidential Leadership Council, and the government, renewed his profound sorrow and sincere condolences to the Yemeni people, as well as to the family, colleagues, and companions of the late national leader, former President Field Marshal Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.

President Al-Alimi said that Yemen had lost, with Hadi’s passing, one of its most prominent statesmen and courageous leaders, whose name would remain closely associated with the defense of the state, the republican system, and adherence to national principles during some of the country’s most difficult and complex periods.

He described the late president as an exceptional national leader and statesman who embodied wisdom, patience, and responsibility, and who remained steadfastly committed to the aspirations of the Yemeni people for freedom, dignity, and equal citizenship. Until his final days, Hadi remained devoted to Yemen’s unity and sovereignty and a steadfast defender of constitutional legitimacy and the project of a just federal state.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council noted that the late president led the country through exceptionally challenging circumstances and, through his wisdom and perseverance, succeeded in preserving regional and international recognition of the Yemeni state and its legitimate institutions. He also sponsored the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, which represented one of the most significant consensus-building milestones in Yemen’s contemporary history.

President Al-Alimi affirmed that the late president’s legacy would endure in the collective memory of Yemenis through the national values he upheld. These values include his firm stance against the coup and the new Imamate project, his commitment to national unity, the promotion of dialogue, and the peaceful transfer of power, while consistently placing the supreme interests of the nation above all other considerations.

He also expressed deep appreciation for the sincere fraternal support extended by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—its leadership, government, and people—to the late president throughout his years of residence in the Kingdom, as well as the care and respect afforded to him and his family in recognition of his national standing and leadership role.

President Al-Alimi prayed that Almighty Allah grant the late Yemeni leader His vast mercy, admit him into Paradise, reward him abundantly for his service to his country and people, and grant his family, relatives, and loved ones patience and solace.

The Presidency of the Republic had earlier announced three days of official mourning and the lowering of flags to half-mast, in addition to the opening of condolence registers at home and abroad, in honor of the late president’s legacy and national stature.
