President Al- Alimi meets with Managing Director of IMF

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Council, met with the Managing Director (MD) of the International Monetary Fund  (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva on the sidelines of his participation in the United Nations General Assembly meetings, that are going to be held tomorrow, Tuesday.

During the meeting they discussed the economic and humanitarian situations in Yemen under the circumstances of the war caused by the Iran- backed Houthi militias.

His Excellency  briefed the international official on the humanitarian consequences of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and the international support required for the government to continue fulfilling its ‏imperative obligations.

His Excellency the President highly appreciated the facilities provided by the International Monetary Fund to benefit from Special Drawing Rights, its openness to all offers to gather global support alongside government reforms, and coordinated governance measures with regional and international allies.

In this context, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council highlighted the generous support provided by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the state's general budget and its pivotal role in stabilizing the economic and service situations in the country.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Abdullah Al-Saadi., and Yemen's Ambassador to the United States, Mohammed Al-Hadhrami.
