President Al-Alimi Praises Maximum U.S. Pressure on Houthi Militias and Iranian Regime

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today Tuesday, Mr. Jonathan Pecha, the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy to Yemen. They discussed the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and prospects for strengthening and developing them.

During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the historic partnership with the United States and its leading role in supporting legitimacy, counterterrorism efforts, and the protection of regional and international security. He expressed his appreciation, along with his fellow members of the Presidential Leadership Council, for Washington’s firm stance toward the Houthi militias and its maximum pressure on the Iranian regime, considering this approach an integral part of protecting the rules-based international order.

The President also reviewed the latest domestic developments, foremost among them recent measures, including the formation of a new government based on standards of competence and professional record, with strong representation of women and youth. He highlighted the tangible improvement in basic services, the regular payment of salaries, steps taken to address the electricity sector, the demilitarization of cities, and the unification of security and military decision-making under the Ministries of Defense and Interior.

In this context, the President commended the strategic partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its pivotal role in supporting Yemeni legitimacy, safeguarding state institutions, and advancing paths of de-escalation, peace, recovery, and stability.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council reaffirmed the Council’s and the government’s commitment to a just and lasting peace that ends the war and does not legitimize weapons outside the authority of the state.
