President Al-Alimi Issues Decree Appointing Dr. Shaea Al-Zandani Prime Minister and Assigning Him to Form the Cabinet

Today, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council issued Decree No. (17) of 2026 appointing Dr. Shaea Mohsen Al-Zandani as Prime Minister and assigning him to form the cabinet.

The text of the decree reads as follows:

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council:

- After reviewing the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen;

- The Gulf Cooperation Council Initiative and its Executive Mechanism, signed on 23 November 2011;

- The Declaration of Transfer of Power Decree No. (9) of 2022, and the decision establishing the Presidential Leadership Council issued on 7 April 2022;

- And pursuant to the Presidential Leadership Council Decree No. (4) regarding the appointment of a new Prime Minister, and in consideration of the supreme national interest;

It is hereby decreed:

Article (1): Dr. Shaea Mohsen Al-Zandani is hereby appointed Prime Minister and is assigned to form the government.

Article (2): The current government shall continue to conduct caretaker duties, excluding appointments and dismissals, until the formation of the new cabinet.

Article (3): This decree shall enter into force as of the date of its issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
