His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Sunday, Ms. Abda Sharif, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, as well as recent domestic developments, efforts to normalize conditions, and the restoration of recovery in the liberated governorates. Discussions also covered measures to strengthen the capacity of legitimate institutions to impose security and stability and build peace. It also discussed the anticipated role of the international community in continuing to support this path within a new phase of promising partnership in Yemen.

During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council renewed his praise for the positive role played by the United Kingdom in supporting Yemen’s unity, constitutional legitimacy, peace efforts, and its vital humanitarian interventions to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

President Al-Alimi underscored the importance of partnership between the two friendly countries in supporting efforts to restore state institutions, combat terrorism, promote regional stability, and safeguard international maritime security. He also reviewed the presidential measures taken to normalize conditions in coordination with the Leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy. These measures include recent sovereign decisions aimed at protecting civilians and safeguarding the state’s legal status, in accordance with the Declaration of the Transfer of Power and the rules governing the work of the Presidential Leadership Council.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council affirmed the success of the process of taking over military camps in Hadhramout and Al-Mahrah governorates, and the continued normalization of conditions in the interim capital Aden and other liberated governorates. He noted that this process would restore the monopoly of arms to the state and pave the way for the return of all institutions to operate normally from within the country.

He pointed out that this success would contribute to improving the humanitarian situation, facilitating the flow of aid, and enhancing confidence with the international community. He stressed that the takeover of military camps represents a foundational step toward reunifying military and security decision-making on clear institutional bases.

In this context, President Al-Alimi referred to the announcement of the formation of the Supreme Military Committee as a comprehensive professional framework. The committee is tasked with unifying all military and security forces and reorganizing them under the Ministries of Defense and Interior.

He further emphasized that the formation of this committee sends a clear message that the Yemeni state has not deviated from its national priorities. He noted that the takeover of the camps was an important corrective measure to protect the internal front and keep efforts focused on the battle to restore state institutions and end the coup by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias, peacefully or by force.

President Al-Alimi also noted that the announcement by the Southern Transitional Council to dissolve itself was a courageous and responsible decision at a pivotal moment. It reflected an awareness of the sensitivity of the stage and the dangers of sliding into internal conflicts that would weaken the internal front in the face of the real threat. He affirmed the commitment to dealing responsibly with the implications of this decision with a state-minded approach rather than a logic of retribution. He reiterated preventing the repetition of past mistakes that led to exclusion and marginalization or the militarization of political life through the exploitation of just causes.

He stressed that the next phase requires harnessing all national capacities, civilian and military, within the framework of the state, its legitimate institutions, and the rule of law.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council renewed his appreciation for the pivotal role of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in de-escalation efforts and in sponsoring southern dialogue. He also commended its continued generous economic support and its humanitarian and development interventions across various sectors.

President Al-Alimi also reviewed the priorities of the next phase, foremost among them are the return of the government and state institutions to operate from within the country. He also reviewed the improvement of basic services, the strengthening of judicial independence and the rule of law, the creation of a safe environment for investment, and the advancement of reconstruction efforts.

In this context, he affirmed the state’s commitment to the path of stability and enhancing the capacity of legitimate institutions to impose security and build peace. His Excellency called on the United Kingdom and the international community to continue supporting this course, including deterring any attempts to obstruct the political process in the country.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
