President Al-Alimi Affirms Pivotal Role of Judiciary in Upholding State Authority and Protecting Its Legal Standing

President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today Saturday, with Judge Mohsen Yahya Taleb, the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, along with heads of judicial bodies, including Judge Dr. Ali Al-Awash, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Judge Badr Al-Arada, the Minister of Justice, and Judge Qaher Mustafa, the Attorney General.

During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed on the performance of the judiciary over the previous period and the cases under consideration across its various courts. He was also briefed on the role of members of the judiciary in strengthening state presence and enforcing the rule of law.

President Al-Alimi praised the achievements and cohesion of the judicial authority, as well as its effective role in protecting rights and freedoms, public and private property, and social peace, and in reinforcing the legal standing of the state. He stressed that the current phase requires a strong, impartial judiciary capable of expediting the adjudication of citizens’ cases, including cases involving violations and encroachments on state institutions, in order to enhance public confidence in the rule of law.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council also briefed the judicial leadership on the latest developments following the completion of the process of taking over military camps in the liberated governorates. His Excellency described the step as necessary to protect civilians and reinforce state authority.

He reviewed the extensive efforts undertaken by the state leadership to prioritize peaceful solutions before resorting to any sovereign decisions. His Excellency commended in this regard the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in de-escalation efforts and in preventing the country from sliding into a cycle of violence.

President Al-Alimi underscored the vital role entrusted to the judiciary as an independent authority, describing it as the primary guarantor of justice and the decisive reference in any dispute. He called on members of the judiciary to fully assume their responsibilities in combating impunity and safeguarding public and private property. He noted that they are not only custodians of rights and duties, but also of the political order and the state’s legal standing.

He reaffirmed the state’s full commitment to the principle of separation of powers and non-interference in judicial affairs, while commending the resilience of judges and judicial personnel despite the difficult circumstances facing the country.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency.
