Governor of Aden Takes Constitutional Oath Before President of Presidential Leadership Council

Mr. Abdulrahman Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Yafei, today Saturday, took the constitutional oath before His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, on the occasion of appointment as Minister of State and Governor of Aden Governorate. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Salem Saleh bin Bureik, the Prime Minister.

Following the oath-taking, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council met with the newly appointed Governor of Aden to discuss priorities for the upcoming phase, particularly in the wake of the successful handover of military camps. Discussions focused on normalizing conditions, consolidating security and stability, and strengthening the rule of law as a prelude to a promising phase of development and reconstruction in the interim capital.

President Al-Alimi stressed the priority of unifying security decision-making and reinforcing the role of the governorate’s security committee, including ensuring that weapons are held exclusively by the state and empowering national institutions with their exclusive authorities.

His Excellency also urged all parties to uphold the values of tolerance, coexistence, and social peace; prevent any manifestations of revenge or retaliation; facilitate the work of humanitarian organizations; ensure the smooth flow of aid; and improve opportunities for decent living.

The President directed the Minister of State, Governor of Aden, and the local authority leadership to work closely with the government to improve public services, foremost among them electricity. He also called for creating a safe and attractive environment for investment and removing administrative obstacles. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of enhancing local and sovereign revenues and stimulating economic activity. The President further urged efforts to restore confidence in the city of Aden and its historic port as a global commercial hub.

President Al-Alimi expressed his strong confidence in the new governor’s leadership to make Aden a model of the rule of law and institutional governance. He also emphasized the importance of full coordination with the central government to preserve its pivotal role in managing the national battle against the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Director of the Office of the Presidency.
