PLC Holds Emergency Meeting on Security Developments, Approves Measures to Protect Civilians and State’s Legal Standing

The Presidential Leadership Council held an emergency meeting today, Wednesday, chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Council. The meeting was held with the participation of members: Sultan Al-Aradah, Tareq Saleh, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, and Othman Mujalli.
The meeting reviewed recent security and military developments in the southern governorates, in light of a statement issued by the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy. The statement included serious information regarding escalation by certain rebellious leaders and obstruction of de-escalation efforts.
The Council was briefed on the repercussions of one member’s failure to respond to an invitation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It also reviewed the unilateral movements and actions accompanying this failure, which constituted a clear departure from the references governing the transitional phase. The Council noted that these actions undermined efforts to protect civilians and risked widening the cycle of violence.
In this context, the Presidential Leadership Council decided to revoke the membership of Aidarous Al-Zubaidi and refer him to the Public Prosecutor on charges of high treason, harming the political and economic standing of the Republic of Yemen, obstructing the state’s efforts to confront the coup, and inciting internal strife.
The meeting also approved the dismissal of the Minister of Transport, Abdul Salam Humaid, and the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Waed Badeeb, from their positions, referring them for investigation. The Council further decided to pursue and apprehend those involved in the distribution of weapons and in threatening civil peace. It emphasized that these individuals will be brought to justice and receive deterrent punishment. The Council stressed that the state will deal firmly with any violations in a manner that ensures respect for the rule of law and the protection of public rights and freedoms.
The Council affirmed that unity of military and security decision-making and respect for the chain of command are fundamental pillars that cannot be compromised. It stressed that any serious breach of these duties will subject the perpetrator to accountability in accordance with the Constitution and the law.
In this regard, the Council approved a set of urgent measures, including instructing the competent authorities to take the necessary steps to protect civilians and public facilities in the interim capital Aden and the liberated governorates. It also directed the unification of command and control over all military and security formations and the prevention of any movements or mobilization outside the framework of the state.
The Presidential Leadership Council renewed its deep appreciation for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy to de-escalate tensions and protect civilians. It also commended their role in consolidating security and stability and preventing the situation from sliding into new internal confrontations. The Council reaffirmed the state’s commitment to implementing its sovereign decisions and safeguarding its legal standing.
The Council also commended the honorable national positions of the people of the interim capital Aden and the liberated governorates in defending the republican system and the legitimate state institutions during this critical phase. The Council renewed its call on citizens to fully cooperate with the security and military agencies and to report any movements or practices that could undermine security or endanger the lives of civilians.
