President Al-Alimi Receives Chargé d’Affaires of Chinese Embassy

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Wednesday, Mr. Shao Zheng, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to Yemen. The meeting discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation in the economic, security, and humanitarian fields.

President Al-Alimi expressed Yemen’s appreciation for its historic friendship with China and its continuous support for the Yemeni people and their aspirations for security, stability, and peace.

The discussions also addressed the latest national developments and the government’s efforts to stimulate the economy, improve basic services, and enhance security and stability amid ongoing threats from the terrorist Houthi militia and associated criminal networks.

The meeting further reviewed the recent UN Panel of Experts report on the growing arms smuggling networks supplying the Houthi militia through the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa, and the impact of these activities on international peace and security.

His Excellency emphasized the importance of close coordination between the two friendly countries to deter common threats and to expand the scope of cooperation, particularly in the fields of energy, infrastructure, ports, and in developing the capabilities of the Yemeni Coast Guard. This cooperation is pivotal to protecting international shipping lanes and safeguarding the vital interests of global trade.

For his part, the Chinese Chargé d'Affaires affirmed his country's support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, expressing its readiness to enhance economic and developmental cooperation across various fields.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Presidency Office.
