President Al-Alimi Meets Syrian President to Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Council members Major General Aidarous Al-Zubaidi and Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, met today, Tuesday, in New York with His Excellency President Ahmed  al-Sharaa, President of the Syrian Arab Republic. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly sessions.

The meeting addressed the latest developments in both countries, bilateral relations, and prospects for their enhancement and development at all levels, as well as ways to coordinate positions on regional issues and developments of mutual interest.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the distinguished historic relations between the two brotherly countries. He expressed appreciation to the Syrian government for reopening the Yemeni Embassy in Damascus after years of the mission’s headquarters being under the control of the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militias

His Excellency the President reaffirmed the Republic of Yemen’s supportive stance on the unity of Syrian territory, its sovereignty, and the will and aspirations of its people in establishing peace, security, and stability.

For his part, the Syrian President praised the historic relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of close bilateral coordination in facing common challenges.

President al-Sharaa expressed his appreciation for Yemen’s stance, its leadership, government, and people, in support of the Syrian people. He further extended his wishes for the Yemeni people to achieve their aspirations in restoring their state institutions, security, and stability.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Shaya’a Al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates. On the Syrian side, the meeting was attended by Asaad Al-Shaibani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, along with Mr. Ibrahim Al-Olabi, Permanent Representative of Syria  to the United Nations.
