President of Leadership Council Arrives in New York to Attend UN General Assembly

His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, arrived today, Monday, in New York, accompanied by Council members Major General Aidarous Al-Zubaidi and Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the session, His Excellency the President will deliver Yemen’s address before world leaders and representatives of UN member states. His speech will focus on developments at the local and regional levels, as well as the international support required for the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government across various domains.

The President will also present the vision of the Council and the government for achieving a just and comprehensive peace. He will highlight efforts to deter common threats, foremost among them the violations committed by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, and their grave implications for international peace and security.

On the sidelines of the UN meetings, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and the accompanying members will hold high-level discussions on the humanitarian and economic situation in Yemen. The talks will also address the continued flow of Iranian weapons and the growing terrorist activities of the Houthi militia and allied criminal organizations.

His Excellency and the Council members will further hold separate meetings with several heads of participating delegations to discuss bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern at all levels.

The delegation was received upon arrival by Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Mr. Emad Bamataraf, Yemen’s Deputy Ambassador to the United States.
