Supreme Court Judges Sworn In Before President Al-Alimi

A number of newly appointed judges of the Supreme Court took the constitutional oath today, Sunday, before His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council. The ceremony was attended by Judge Mohsen Yahya Talib, Head of the Supreme Judicial Council.

According to Presidential Leadership Council Decree No. (327) of 2024, the following members of the Supreme Court took the oath:

Judge Mohammed Faraj Salem Sabti.

Judge Ahmed Saeed Khamis bin Arowa.

Judge Fadhl Abdullah Ali Maqbal.

Judge Jalal Obaid Mohammed Al-Marfadi.

Judge Mohammed Qaed Salem Mohammed Humidan.

Following the oath-taking ceremony, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council held a meeting with the newly appointed Supreme Court judges, congratulating them on gaining this trust and wishing them success in their upcoming judicial duties.

His Excellency emphasized the vital role expected of the honorable judges in upholding justice, enforcing the rule of law, and safeguarding civil peace and high societal values amid the harsh realities of the ongoing war ignited by the Houthi militias with support from the Iranian regime.

The President reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to the principle of separation of powers, the independence of the judiciary, and non-interference in its affairs. He also stressed the Council’s determination to improve the conditions of judicial personnel and ensure the enforcement of rulings issued by various judicial departments.

President Al-Alimi briefed the judiciary leadership and members on the country’s developments, including the economic, service-related, and humanitarian repercussions of the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping lanes. He underlined the increased responsibilities on the judiciary to reinforce state authority and protect the supreme interests of the Yemeni people, noting that judges are not only guardians of rights and duties, but also of the political system and legal standing of the state.

The President also commended the honorable fraternal stances of the coalition partners supporting legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He highlighted their support for the government and its legitimate institutions, as well as their humanitarian and developmental interventions that have enabled the state to meet its critical obligations and thwart the plans of the Houthi militias and affiliated terrorist organizations to plunge the country into chaos and a comprehensive humanitarian crisis.
