President Al-Alimi Honors Head of Russian Institute of Oriental Studies with Order of Merit in Literature

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, today honored Professor Vitaly Naumkin, Head of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences, by awarding him the Order of Merit in Literature and Arts. This recognition comes in appreciation of his contributions and prominent role in advancing science, culture, and in-depth studies on Yemeni and Arab affairs, including the documentation of the oral and linguistic heritage of the inhabitants of Socotra Island.

President Al-Alimi expressed his deep appreciation for Professor Naumkin and his scholarly contributions, praising his outstanding role in promoting Arab and Islamic culture, and in spreading the values of tolerance and coexistence among civilizations and peoples.

The President also commended Professor Naumkin’s valuable research on Yemeni affairs and the history of southern Arabia, in addition to his distinguished archaeological studies on Socotra Island and its unique cultural heritage.
