President Al-Alimi Receives EU Deputy Secretary-General

Today, Monday, His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received Mr. Olof Skoog, Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service (EEAS), and Mr. Gabriel Munuera Viñales, the EU Ambassador to Yemen.

The meeting addressed the latest developments in the local and regional situation, as well as the necessary European interventions to support Yemen's economy and alleviate the humanitarian suffering exacerbated by Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and maritime shipping vessels.

His Excellency the President praised the European Union's strong commitment to supporting the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership at all levels.

In this context, President Al-Alimi expressed his profound appreciation for the recent statement from the European Union, which condemns the violations committed by the terrorist Houthi militia. This stance reflects the EU member states’ steadfast commitment to supporting the state’s efforts, as well as the security, stability, and sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen.

During the meeting, His Excellency emphasized the Council's and the government’s commitment to maintaining international unity and its positive stance regarding the situation in Yemen. He also stressed the importance of close coordination with all global powers to address shared threats, particularly in safeguarding waterways and commercial vessels.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, the Director of the Presidency Office.
