Mr. Salem Saleh bin Burik was sworn in today as Prime Minister before His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, following his official appointment to the position.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, His Excellency President Al-Alimi extended his congratulations to the Prime Minister on having the Council’s confidence. He also expressed appreciation for the efforts of the outgoing Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, acknowledging his leadership during a period marked by exceptionally complex domestic and regional challenges.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council outlined key priorities for the new government, emphasizing the urgent need to address the deteriorating economic and service conditions, to support the national liberation effort, and to reinforce strategic partnerships with the Coalition to Support Legitimacy—led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates—as well as with international allies.

President Al-Alimi affirmed his confidence in the Prime Minister and Cabinet members, encouraging a spirit of teamwork to confront current challenges, mobilize all available capacities, and advance the mission of restoring state institutions and alleviating the suffering of citizens.

His Excellency further underscored the importance of strengthening the legal authority of the state, enhancing the efficiency of national institutions, activating the role of the private sector, and working from the interim capital Aden and other liberated governorates.

The President called for deepening cooperation with local authorities and enhancing their responsiveness to public needs, in accordance with the Local Authority Law and its executive regulations.

In addition, President Al-Alimi stressed the importance of honoring international obligations, completing institutional reforms, and activating governance mechanisms. He reaffirmed the government’s responsibility to combat terrorism and all forms of corruption, and to adhere to the principles of merit, integrity, consensus, and partnership in the execution of its duties.

He concluded by reaffirming the Presidential Leadership Council’s full support for the government’s efforts and its commitment to enabling the Cabinet to carry out its constitutional responsibilities—aimed at alleviating the humanitarian crisis caused by the terrorist Houthi militias and realizing the Yemeni people’s aspirations for security, peace, stability, and development.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency.
