President Al-Alimi Praises UK Efforts to Mobilize International Support for Yemeni People

Today, Wednesday, His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received Ms. Abda Sharif, the UK Ambassador to Yemen.

The meeting touched upon the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the latest national and regional developments, including the continued threats posed by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias to international peace and security.

President Al-Alimi was briefed by Ambassador Abda Sharif on indicators of a British plan coordinated with relevant parties to mobilize international support aimed at alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people, improving livelihoods, supporting economic recovery opportunities, and enhancing public services provided to citizens.

During the meeting, President Al-Alimi commended the strong bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, as well as the UK's humanitarian and development interventions across various sectors. He stressed the need to scale up this support in light of the catastrophic repercussions of the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and maritime shipping vessels.

His Excellency the President reiterated the commitment of the Council and the government to developing a constructive strategic partnership with the international community across all fronts, ensuring the elimination of terrorist threats to maritime shipping lanes, promoting regional stability, and safeguarding international peace and security.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Presidency Office.
