President Al-Alimi meets with Speaker and members of the Presidency of Parliament

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Thursday, with Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, Speaker of the Parliament, along with Engineer Mohammed Al-Shadadi and Dr. Mohsen Basora, members of the Parliament’s Presidency. The discussion focused on the latest developments in the political, economic, and service sectors, as well as efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering exacerbated by attacks from the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias on oil facilities and international shipping lanes.

During the meeting, the President briefed the Speaker and the Members on the overall developments in the local arena, as well as the government policies and measures taken to fulfill the state's essential obligations. These include paying employee salaries, sustaining basic services, enhancing efforts to restore national institutions, and ending the coup by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.

President Al-Alimi also presented the outcomes of his participation in the extraordinary Arab Summit held in Egypt, the Munich Security Conference, and his recent meetings with regional allies and international partners, to mobilize support for the Yemeni people, alleviate their humanitarian suffering, and achieve their aspirations for security, stability, and peace.

In this context, His Excellency noted that the U.S. administration's decision to designate the Houthi militias as a Foreign Terrorist Organization has come into effect. He reiterated the government's commitment to taking all coordinated measures with the international community to ensure that the decision's primary objectives are met, while minimizing any negative impacts on the Yemeni financial and banking sectors, as well as the interests of citizens, and ensuring the continued flow of humanitarian aid and essential food and goods imports.

The President also received updates from the Speaker regarding the Council's activities over the past period, the work of its leadership, and the specialized committees, monitoring the performance of the executive authority and the general situation in the country.
