President al- Alimi Directs for Urgent Intervention to Mitigate the Impact of Depression in Al-Mahrah

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, made a telephone call today, Friday, to the Governor of Al-Mahra Mohammed Ali Yasser, to check on the situation in the governorate, which has been experiencing heavy rains and severe floods for days due to the depression and the unstable weather.

President al- Alimi ‏was briefed on preliminary briefing by the Governor of Al-Mahrah about the damage caused by floods and heavy rains to public and private properties, agricultural holdings, roads, infrastructure, and key services in the city of Al-Ghaydah and various parts of the governorate. In addition , the briefing covered the coordinated efforts with relevant authorities, regional and international organizations, especially the valuable interventions by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), to mitigate the impact of the depression and provide assistance, rescue operations, and aid to the affected individuals and families.

His Excellency the President praised the efforts of the local authority leadership and the executive offices in Al-Mahrah Governorate. He also praised the actions and measures which have been taken to mitigate the effects of the natural disaster.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council directed the Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, to mandate the Ministry of Public Works, its affiliated institutions and  the relevant authorities‏ to intervene urgently to opening internal and international roads, resuming operation of key services, and starting rehabilitation of destroyed infrastructure.
